Checking utility bills
You should check your
utility invoices
regularly to look for opportunities to claim
refunds and rebates.
Regarding accuracy, factors to check include:
- Correct supplier (especially after new contract)
- Not someone else's bill
- Prices correct against current contract
tariffs (including pass-through
transportation charges)
- Meter reading continuity ('previous' ties up with last 'present'
reading; capacity and demand charges consistent)
- No overlap of bills
- Proof of delivery (eg in-house
meter readings, oil delivery notes)
- No double-billing of oil, coal, LPG, or other bulk-delivery items
- Arithmetic correct
