Example of multi-driver targeting
The tabulation below shows how expected or 'target' energy consumption can be estimated from the production
and weather records. Week 37 is highlighted. The factory's target energy consumption that week can be broken
down into constituent parts as follows:
- the factory has a target of 5000 kWh per week for its fixed 'overhead' energy use;
- it produced 12 tonnes of dry product (target requirement 100 kWh per tonne);
- it processed 245 litres of wet product (target 20 kWh per litre); and
- the local weather was recorded as 8 degree days (target 500 kWh per degree day)
Target consumption for the week is thus
5000 + (100 x 12) + (20 x 245) + (500 x 8) = 15,100 kWh
